Surfers Against Sewage
At least 25 beaches across Scotland have been contaminated with sewage in breach of safety limits in June and July.
Sewage spilled directly into Scotland’s rivers, lochs and seas at least 12,000 times in one year.
As many as 30 beaches across Scotland have been polluted in breach of sewage safety limits so far this summer, according to official monitoring.
Scottish beaches rated as “poor” for pollution have been given awards for “cleanliness”, prompting accusations that the public have been misled.
