A Rangers fan who displayed a Nazi flag at Ibrox stadium, and who has been convicted for violence and disorder, is a drummer with a Glasgow flute band, The Ferret can reveal.

Jordan McArthur held a flag which featured a white skull associated with the SS – the Nazis’ paramilitary wing – when Rangers played Aberdeen in Glasgow last September.

He unfurled the SS banner from the upper tier of Ibrox’s Broomloan Road stand, prompting outrage on social media.

Now The Ferret has seen evidence that McArthur drums with a flute band called Blackskull Corps of Fife and Drum which has attended wreath laying services to honour British soldiers killed in action.

During World War Two, the Waffen-SS murdered around 100 British and French prisoners of war in the Wormhoudt massacre on 28 May 1940. They were captured by German SS troops as they made their way to Dunkirk.

McArthur pled guilty to committing breach of the peace as well as a separate charge of culpable and reckless conduct at Glasgow Sheriff Court earlier this month.

The band has not responded to a request to comment. We were unable to contact McArthur directly.

In 2020 McArthur was given a community payback order after he admitted a breach of the peace related to disorder at an asylum rights protest in the city’s George Square.

He was convicted of three charges of disorder and violence in 2016 after Rangers were defeated by Hibernian in the Scottish Cup Final. After invading the pitch at Hampden Park, he kicked a man on the head as he lay on the ground.

Sentence was deferred on McArthur for his latest offence pending background reports until next month. He was granted bail and ordered not to enter regulated football matches.

  1. Shame on Blackskull Corps for not publicly apologising for his behaviour and kicking him out of their band. It doesn’t look good on them that they didn’t even bother to comment. Now we are left wondering what their views are on this.

  2. For the very fact that the band chose not to comment, screams support of the thugs views, no surprise there and typical of their fans!
