Revealed: Deer management cost public purse at least £135m in a decade
Deer overpopulation in many parts of Scotland is harming the environment. Attempts to tackle the longstanding issue are costing taxpayers tens of millions of pounds.
Prominent British naturalist Chris Packham joined COP26 protesters in Glasgow to demand urgent action on climate change.
Speaking exclusively to The Ferret in Glasgow he said that many were ‘sceptical’ of the ‘grandstanding’ from leaders attending the global summit.
“Whilst we’ve entrusted our leaders to come to COP and make a difference… we’re not entirely satisfied with what they’ve been doing,” he said.
“We need to remind them that the citizens of planet Earth are demanding action at this critical time.”
Around 100,000 from all over the world joined the Glasgow protest, making it one of the largest marches ever to have taken place in the city.
Similar events took place all over the world as part of a global day of action for climate justice.
The Ferret’s People’s COP coverage has reported on some of the groups attending the protest and what they hoped to achieve.
